INTRAMURALS

Intramural sports are played among teams of Gibbons students. The goal of the intramural programs is to provide a balance of competition and cooperation in a safe, non-threatening atmosphere. Students from all skill levels are encouraged to participate; equal playing time is one of the rules of the program. Typically, each team will play about two games per week. There are no practices.  These games are typically on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and end by 3:30. Teams play approximately 10-12 games, with a playoff system after the regular season concludes. Sign-ups are announced for at least one week on the morning announcements and during Physical Education classes.  Announcements are also often made via the @gibbons_sports instagram and @gibbonssports twitter accounts, and in the "gibbons news and notes" weekly email home.

Team schedules and rosters are posted in the locker rooms, homerooms, and cafeteria. Students can often take the late bus home at 3:30, since most games are played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (which are the days the late bus runs).

INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS

Interscholastic sports are school travel teams.  Participants on these teams will have games/meets both at Gibbons and also at other middle schools.  In some cases, students may need to "try out" to make a team.  In other cases, anyone may register and play.  Students must maintain their academic eligibility in order to participate on these teams.  Students must also have an updated physical on file in the nurses office.

The following is a list of all interscholastic sport offerings at GMS:
