Welcome to Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School

Hello and Welcome to Gibbons Middle School,

Welcome Back!

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our teachers, students and parents for an exceptionally smooth start to our school year.  It has been a welcome relief to open school without the necessary mechanics of masking, social distancing and contact tracing. With the memories and lessons learned from our recent past, we look forward to new challenges and new opportunities for the upcoming school year. A major focal point for Gibbons Middle School is returning to our pre-pandemic norms expectations, as well as expanding our practices in several important areas such as recycling.

We are used to the cyclical nature of our work, welcoming students into seventh grade preparing them academically, socially, and emotionally for their quick transition into 9th grade and high school. This recurring cycle with students is at times mirrored in our work with colleagues. Some years there is relatively little staff transition and in others, like this year, we say goodbye to quite a few trusted colleagues and welcome into our community new partners with fresh ideas.

Please welcome the following new members of the GMS school community:

  • Mrs. Maureen Stewart - Assistant Principal
  • Mr. Sullivan - 8th grade Science, Blue Team
  • Mrs. McKay - 7th grade English, Red Team
  • Mr. McMahon - 8th grade Tech Ed
